Privacy Policy

Zunnka ("we," "our," or "us") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy applies to the Santoor mobile application for Android.

We believe in complete transparency: Santoor is designed as a standalone musical instrument. We do not collect personal identifiers such as names, phone numbers, contact books, email addresses, or physical locations. We utilize only trusted infrastructure providers (Google Firebase and Cloudflare) to ensure app performance, reliability, and audio asset delivery.

1. Third-Party Services We Use

We use exclusively the following third-party services to support and operate the app:

A. Google Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand aggregated application usage patterns and optimize musical interactions. The information collected includes:

Anonymous Engagement Metrics: General interaction counts (strings struck, Raga auto-play or interactive learning mode accessed, tuner usage, settings viewed).
Session Metrics: App launch counts, session duration, and feature adoption.
Device & OS Specifications: Device model, screen orientation, Android OS version, and locale.

All data collected via Firebase Analytics is pseudonymized, aggregated, and does not contain personally identifiable information. For more details, refer to the Google Firebase Privacy Policy.

B. Google Firebase Crashlytics

To provide a rock-solid musical experience, we use Firebase Crashlytics to monitor stability, diagnose audio glitches, and fix unexpected crashes. When an error occurs, Crashlytics collects:

Technical Crash Logs: Stack traces and line numbers where an exception occurred.
Device State: Device model, OS architecture, available RAM, and orientation at the moment of the crash.

Crash reports contain zero personal user information and are used solely for debugging and performance optimization.

C. Cloudflare CDN

To provide high-definition, authentic Santoor acoustic sound samples without inflating the initial app install size, audio assets are securely fetched on-demand from our Cloudflare storage/CDN.

Standard Network Logs: Cloudflare processes standard HTTP request metadata (such as IP address and request timestamp) as necessary to route, cache, and deliver audio files securely.

2. Device Permissions & Local Features

Microphone Permission (RECORD_AUDIO)

                Audio Privacy Guarantee: The microphone permission is requested solely for the Santoor Tuner tool.
            

When you activate the Tuner tool, the app listens to your physical Santoor instrument strings to perform real-time pitch detection and frequency analysis (using the YIN pitch algorithm).

No Recording or Storage: Pitch detection is computed entirely in volatile device memory (RAM) in real time.
No Transmission: Microphone audio is never recorded, stored, uploaded, or transmitted to any server, network, or third party.
You can grant or revoke this permission at any time in your Android device's Settings.

Local Recordings ("My Recordings")

When you use the recording feature in the Santoor app:

Recordings consist of musical note timestamps and string indices.
All recordings are stored strictly on your device's internal storage (in private application storage).
Your recordings are never uploaded to the cloud or shared with anyone. You have full control to play, listen to, or delete them at any time.

3. Data Sharing & Advertising

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your data. We do not include third-party advertising SDKs, behavioral tracking networks, or marketing trackers in the Santoor app.

Data is only shared with our service providers (Google Firebase and Cloudflare) strictly to the extent necessary to provide analytics, crash reporting, and audio asset delivery as described above.

4. Data Security & Retention

We implement industry-standard security protocols, including encrypted HTTPS communication for all network traffic between the app, Cloudflare, and Google Firebase. Analytical and diagnostic crash data is retained in accordance with Google Firebase's standard retention schedules.

5. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

The Santoor app is a musical instrument application intended for users of all ages, including music learners and enthusiasts. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. Because our app does not collect personal information, it complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar global regulations.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app updates or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. You are encouraged to review this page periodically.
